GIDUE doubles to follow Offset success

Turate, April 18th 2008 – Due to a rapid increase in sales during FY08, GIDUE, the Italian manufacturer of narrow and mid-web presses could not wait for its new premises to be fully functional and decided to add 2,200 square meters to its Headquarters in Turate, Italy.

The year 2010, which will see the completion of the new building, seemed too distant for GIDUE, whose need for an additional manufacturing and storage area was becoming crucial. This led to the decision to add a facility close to the existing plant: the total production surface now amounts to 4,500 square metres, plus the headquarters and sales offices, the Graphic Arts Centre and Showroom.

GIDUE is facing an extraordinary sales expansion of its Xpannd™ offset/flexo integrated systems for the label industry. The number of Xpannd™ machines sold is in fact starting to become significant: this press line is counting on 6 machines installed in Italy (and others on order) after Labelexpo 2007, mainly for the wine, cosmetics and food industries. The choice of the Italian market as the only and main target for initial sales has proven to be successful. Today GIDUE can count on several technically different offset installations – real ‘live’ showrooms at customers’ facilities – less than three hours away by car.

While GIDUE’s plant in Florence continues to produce the Xpannd™ offset heads, making the most of their expertise and skills in offset rotary technology, the GIDUE enlarged plant in Turate will be equipped for the manufacturing, assembly and final testing of these hybrid machines. This will certainly give excellent results in terms of production lead times and delivery speed.

“The reason why we decided to enlarge our plant is also connected with our objectives in terms of further growth in 2009,” explains Federico d’Annunzio, President of GIDUE. “Next year, the demand for our presses is expected to become even higher. While the demand from Western countries will mainly be focused on the new generation of intelligent, servo-driven machines – like the Xpannd™, the sleeve gearless mid-web Athena™ and the I-Combat™ – the emerging markets will concentrate on our mechanical or light servo models, such as E- and S-Combat™ or Quadra™. The fact that we can offer the most suitable solution for any customer’s request is based, of course, on a well-organized and efficient production.”

“Today, the introduction of GIDUE printing and converting machines on the global market is certainly easier thanks to our worldwide presence with several newly certified Service Points providing installation services, on-site assistance and spares,” concludes d’Annunzio.

The design of the building under construction, located roughly 2 km away from the present headquarters, includes 8,220 square metres for manufacturing and already incorporates the possibility to extend the total production surface up to 12,330 square meters.
