At Drupa GIDUE confirms its role of guide and true inspirer of the graphic sector
Turate, June 30th 2008 – Closed the doors of Drupa, it’s time for all the exhibitors to sum up final reports and considerations. For GIDUE the most important International Trade Fair of the Graphic industry was the occasion to have a confirmation of the company’s role of technological driver among narrow and mid-web press manufacturers. As Federico d’Annunzio, President of GIDUE, clearly points out: “At Düsseldorf we saw many companies exhibiting solutions, which actually were reflecting technological paths we had already foreseen some years ago, like for example the in-line multi-process printing concept. Given our ability in anticipating the needs and the trends of the market, we can assert we are perceived now as real Innovation makers.”
In this sense, GIDUE has already been involved, together with some renowned international companies, in a noteworthy project, which was officially announced at Drupa 2008: “UV Flexo for Food Packaging” (for further info, please visit: www.gidue.com). It’s a breakthrough concept, which will change forever the flexible film packaging printing in the food sector.
“This project is part of a new strategy focusing on the reinforcement of GIDUE’s presence within the packaging sector and which will allow us to work closely with the most important names and brands of the packaging industry. Recently, we have proved our global approach in the Food Contact Notification Alliance, promoted by RadTech USA, and aimed at supporting UV as a sustainable technology suitable for different applications.”
At Drupa 2008, GIDUE’s booth was always crowded with visitors, highly interested in discovering the potential of the two displayed machines: Athena and Xpannd. The trade fair was also a good opportunity to develop new commercial contacts, besides being the ideal place where many new negotiations were born, some of which were even positively concluded directly at Drupa.
The Xpannd, a hybrid flexo/offset/silkscreen machine - featuring high-end converting capabilities, was shown at Drupa with up to 13 in-line stations – representing the answer to the need for all-in-one-pass, in-line printing, which is typical of the wine, oil, food and cosmetics label sectors.
The Xpannd ensures the maximum efficiency in short runs inside a fully standardised offset job flow. Drupa has also been the launching pad for innovative and exclusive technologies like the Hi-Offset, the integration of new temperature, dampening and inking controls in the famous Xpannd offset group, new, trustful Hot Stamping tools characterized by valuable price/quality levels, and the Universal Platform, a modular system for the easy interchange of the Flower™ flexo group, the RSI silkscreen unit and, shortly, a special Hot Stamping unit.
The second machine displayed at Drupa, the UV flexo sleeve press Athena, represents the ideal, and most sustainable solution for printing flexible packaging and shrink sleeves for the food, beverage and cosmetics sectors. Athena provides high flexibility and productivity in short and medium runs, becoming the ideal answer to the emerging needs of the flexible packaging industry - traditionally using solvent rotogravure and central drum presses.
“This edition of Drupa was the occasion to demonstrate all the advantages of our intelligent UV solutions, flexo or offset, both digitally controlled”, continues d’Annunzio. “High productivity, flexibility and speed, combined with a high level quality: thanks to the continuous innovation improving our solutions and also thanks to the fruitful partnership with big names of the label and packaging sectors, the converters can now print increasingly more attractive, but also sustainable, products.”
Among GIDUE future projects, there’s the intention of supporting the narrow web label printers who want to enter the flexible packaging sector. D’Annunzio concludes: “Drupa is the place where we can best test our past and present ideas, and at the same time, it’s an incentive to constant improvement. We will keep in mind all feedbacks we got in Düsseldorf and from tomorrow on we will go on working to sustain our role as guide of the label and packaging industries.”
