Stratus Packaging: the best solutions for decoration, promotion and traceability of labels.

The offer of the group covers France and the bordering countries with top-of-the-range products such as filmic and paper self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves, IML, wrap- arounds, booklets and numeric labels. The three companies are ISO9001:2000 certified and use in-house pre-press integrated systems and CTP machines for the production of flexo plates. Processing about 37 million of square meters of printed material a year, the group develops a turnover of approx. €34m and employs 240 people. “We are proud of our team of experts working to help customers to create top-range solutions that respond to their marketing and budget requirements” says Mr. Isidore Leiser, President of Stratus Packaging.
The company is particularly concentrating on general industry, cosmetics, food and beverage, automotive and pharmaceutical and they are the leader in France in the production of self-adhesive, in-mould, wrap-around labels, booklets and shrink sleeves for these growing and demanding market sectors. “The largest part of our turnover comes from sales in France. Exports count for 15-20%. The French market is facing strong price pressure, mainly due to companies' consolidation often resulting in over capacity. 2007 marked a good year, after a stagnant period” explains Mr. Leiser.
Stratus Packaging handles any technology: from UV and water-based flexo, to offset, letterpress, digital, numeric printing and silkscreen. They have 33 machines in total and work also on hybrid presses, helpful in handling sophisticated, multi-process, added value works.
Among their press range there’s a GIDUE 8-colour E-Combat™ 370, with cold foil and lamination, to produce mainly self-adhesive labels. Stratus Packaging has just finalised the purchase of a second machine, one 8-colour I-Combat™ 430 which is on display on the GIDUE stand at Labelexpo Europe and incorporates a great deal of automation and servo-assistance.
“The GIDUE is a very good machine. We use it to handle both short and medium runs for the production of self-adhesive labels, from simple to very complex ones - like a stickable three-page label that won one FINAT Label Award at the last Congress which combined the incorporation of a discount bonus with the offer of children’s games – a special varnishing enables children to write on the booklet with a ball point pen,” says visibly satisfied Mr. Leiser.
The excellent performances of the E-Combat™ and the good cooperation with the whole Italian team pushed Stratus Packaging towards the purchase of the second GIDUE press. With the addition of the new servo-assisted I-Combat™, which gives the opportunity to make the process run smoother and faster, with savings in time and waste, the French company has an additional winning weapon to provide the best ‘total label’ solutions suitable to the specific requirements of the customers, satisfying short runs requirements and providing fast delivery times together with the highest quality.
