It is not so frequent that a GIDUE press is sold on the second hand market. And if this happens there is always a good reason behind. Otherwise a GIDUE press is forever, better to sell another one, my Combat stays here ! So when I visited India in April for the very informative seminar organized by our distributor in India, Reifenhauser India, I asked to visit the only second hand press sold in India. And I was delighted to see a true story of cooperation between companies in the common "love" for the GIDUE technology. In year 2002 Arun Rawat, and his brother Arvind, decided to enter the label business and bought an S-Combat 280. They were immediately passionated with the machine and, I have to say the truth, their enthusiasm was one of the main factors for our success in the Indian market. Arun has always been so keen on the Combat features that he really helped many converters to buy our machines making fantastic demos in his plant in Mumbai. So when I knew he was willing to put the press into the market I was really interested in knowing the reasons behind. And he explained me that he had (as usual for him...) some new ideas for the packaging industry and that he was willing to experiment alternative markets. So the press has been in the market for a while and has been sold to Frontier Labels. I asked Sudhir Samant, our Superman in the Indian market, to take me to the new place of the machine and.... Surprise: I found exactly the same team of people as at Aruns place ! Not only the machine, but the whole team followed the machine. All the know how, all the technology developed during years of experience was not lost. And this in full cooperation between Arun Rawat and Mr. Shembekar and his son Mr. Omkar Shembekar I found a press in perfect conditions, clean and well treated as a race horse. Running as usual at 120 meter per minute (this was always the philosophy of Arun) with perfect print quality and register. So after 8 years the press has found..... Another passionate lover ! Yes, because speaking with the new owners, a wise father and a creative son as it often happens in India, we could feel the same passion and enthusiasm : "this is the best choice we could ever make; we could start at full power after 3 days !" And other nice words which you can imagine how proud I was about (walking 1 feet above the sky....). I spoke also to the printers, and they looked proud to see me again in the new company. And I was the happiest and the most proud of all ! The company Frontier Labels is mainly specialized in super short runs for the pharma industry and literally make change-overs in minutes as they have organized all the work on a "pit-stop" base. So they make around 15-20 job per day in 2 shifts, most of the jobs with 5-6 colours and 1 die cut. After many years they are the perfect-team and I have seen some of the most clever solutions for fast change over and extreme print quality for the pharma business.
