The Athena is a heavy-duty, totally servo controlled and fully gearless press dedicated to the packaging industry for its characteristics of print stability, high productivity and high speeds.

Its lightweight printing sleeves are easy to replace and to handle, conferring to the machine the highest degree of simplicity. The sleeves take further advantages by a smoother absorption of vibrations, ensuring a longer lifetime of the polyurethane components of the sleeve and great process interchangeability. As a further plus, the Athena positioning rail system is now extended to the whole machine allowing a wider choice of web path and accessories.

The Athena Intelligence results in high printing quality and fast and accurate set-up. This means greatly reduced waste, as all the parameters of the optimal adjustments are digitally stored and reproduced. The digital control on the machine supports the operator with fully automatic adjustments – pre-register, automatic register, automatic pressure adjustment, automatic substrate calliper control, and automatic tension control - and avoids unnecessary repeated operations. The PC-controlled Intelligence, inherent in all latest GIDUE presses, can be easily connected to any printing company’s Management Information System. The MIS can send job orders, job planning and additional information directly to the operator through an user-friendly program interface compatible with Microsoft^® and Ethernet platforms. The system ensures an interactive and bi-directional communication plus reducing paper order flow and minimizing loss of information.

The Athena boasts the revolutionary “mark to mark” Multi-camera Intelligent Register system  with cameras (not photo-cells!) positioned on each print unit able to recognize the register pattern. The register is fully automatic at set-up (pre-register) and during production (register), the register verifies the printing pressures and the whole operation is totally independent from the operator’s abilities.
